Ozon reports 63% revenue rise

Five companies forming the Ozon holding have reported a combined revenue of 7.77 bn rubles (roughly $250 m) in 2012, up 63% from the previous year. Ozon's gross sales in 2012 was 15.27 bn rubles, up 73%.

In 2012, Ozon continued to advance in all directions, improving its product range and service quality, and expanding its delivery network, Maelle Gavet, the holdings CEO, commented on the yearly report. "We also acquired our first company and began offering our services to third parties, strengthening our position as Russia's e-commerce platform no.1", she said.

Ms Gavet expects that in five years, majority online purchases in Russia will be made via Ozon: directly on one of the holding's b2c sites or on many of its partner sites working with Ozon's Ocurier.ru, eSolutions, "or one of many other projects we are working on".

Founded in 1998, Ozon is now Russia's largest online retailer, offering all types of consumer goods and travel services. Last year, Ozon acquired Sapato.ru, a major online footwear retailer.
