Mail.ru launches online flight sale service

Mail.ru has launched its new airline ticket search service avia.mail.ru. The company said the site's special feature is the fact that it can display not just the cheapest available flights, but also the cheapest direct flights. The service also displays ticket cost dynamics for the days nearest the desired flight dates.

The service is an addition to travel.mail.ru, a site where users can book hotels and buy travel packages and find virtual guidebooks and travel reports. The portal is used by 9 million people a month.

Mail.ru will have to compete with Yandex and Google, who have had similar services for a while. An airline sales service was also launched in 2011 by Rambler, but the company said it was dropping the project earlier this year.
